Vaginal yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis (BV) occurring simultaneously is very uncommon. It is said that the bacteria in BV produce amines that are not conducive for yeast growth. Furthermore, in bacterial vaginosis, the good bacteria that help fight off invading microorganisms are still there, just overrun by bad ones.
In addition, if a woman with an active yeast infection is cultured for bacteria, results will most likely say that there is much less of the bacteria that are associated with the occurrence of bacterial vaginosis. This means that there are less pepto-streptococcus and anaerobic cocci and/or bacilli in the culture.
Based from these facts, it can be derived that the environmental preferences for the growth of these separate diseases are very different that is why coexistence between the two is very unlikely. However, there is always an exception to the ruleand this is one of them.
With the successful antibiotic treatment of BV, a subsequent yeast infection may occur as side effect. Depending on the antibiotic used, the likelihood that this side effect can occur varies. Penicillin derivatives are most likely to cause yeast. Even metronidazole, cephalosporins, and other routinely prescribed antibiotics can cause yeast.
As for vaginal yeast infection treatment, nystatin, amphotericin B, fluconazole, and butaconazole are frequently prescribed by doctors. Topical vaginal treatment is more preferred because strains are becoming more and more resistant and higher doses of the drugs are needed to kill the yeast. Physicians are not too inclined in prescribing systemic fluconazole to localized vaginal infection, as they are reserved for blood-borne infections.

QUESTION:
How to get rid of a yeast infection at home?-
ANSWER:
The good bacteria in plain yogurt helps fight yeast and yogurt can be used both internally and externally. BUT, be sure you buy plain, unsweetened yogurt. Since sugar feeds yeast, this is a crucial point. You can also make your own, using a yogurt starter. I have done this myself and it is simple and the results are quite good. The advantage is that you can use other types of milk, such as soy or almond. While I made mine directly on the stovetop, you can also purchase a yogurt maker, if you want to take the thinking out of the process. Whether purchased or homemade, yogurt is a great thing to eat before meals because it provides "good bacteria" for your stomach to aid in digestion.
For a topical treatment, you can also dip a tampon in plain yogurt and insert it into your vagina or simply rub some on the outside. I have found, however, that leaving it on for a prolonged period tends to have the opposite effect. It seems that once it has done its job, it is best to wipe it off or you will feel itchier due to the moisture.
Garlic
Garlic is a big enemy of yeast! This is one of the most effective home remedies I have found for instant relief. Inserting one garlic tab (such as Shaklee's Garlic Tabs) or a garlic clove into the vagina every few hours or as needed provides soothing relief. If you use garlic tabs, be sure the ingredients are natural and pure. I highly recommend the Shaklee garlic tabs. They are what I have always used with great results.
Of course, garlic can be taken internally, as well. Again, the Shaklee garlic tabs work great. I have also used Kyolic garlic tabs and liquid in the past with good results. Or, if you don't mind the smell, you can press a whole garlic clove and drink it down quickly with water. I have found this to be very effective. Do it as often as necessary.
Apple-cider vinegar (with the mother)
Apple-cider vinegar has many health benefits (including aiding in weight loss) and can be used both internally and externally, as well. However, it is very strong, so it is not recommended that you apply it directly on the skin. It will kill the yeast, but it will burn like nothing you've ever felt! The best external application is to add about a cup of it into your bathwater and take a nice hot bath. This will feel very relaxing and soothing and will help temporarily. I don't find it as effective long-term, however, as the garlic suppositories. They provide full-day relief.
The type of vinegar I recommend is Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, with the Mother. It is important that it have the mother, as this is more natural and less processed. Never use plain, white vinegar! This actually feeds the yeast instead of killing it.
Apple cider vinegar can be used as a home remedy for many ailments.
Water
In my opinion, this is one of the world's most powerful, secret remedies for any illness! I strongly believe that if we all drank the amount of water our bodies need, we would see a great reduction in all types of sicknesses.
Most doctors say that we should drink at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water daily, but many people need even more than that. I have found that simply drinking enough water greatly reduces my likelihood for getting a yeast infection. Because I am drinking more water, and subsequently urinating more frequently, my body is able to flush out the sugars that feed the yeast.
Be sure to drink water that is pure and free from toxins. It is best to purchase some type of water filtration system, such as one made by Shaklee. Other brands that are good are the Brita and PUR brands. Be sure that regardless of what system you purchase, you do your research first to be sure that it will be effective in its performance.
If you do only one thing, drink more water. It's easy, accessable, natural, and has no side effects!

QUESTION:
how to get rid of yeast infection at home?!?!!?
Im only 13 and a half, and i don't want to go to the doctors because its awkward
So yeah, is there anything i can do at home to get rid of it
i don't want to tell my mum cuz it will be awkward too.so how do you get a yeast infection ?
and how do i stop it-
ANSWER:
Are you sure it's a yeast infection?Different types of infections:
Signs of yeast infections:
White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
Intense itching
Buy Monistat over-the-counterSigns of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva
See a doctorWhile it may be awkward to talk to your mom or see a doctor, it is the mature thing to do.
Once you start puberty a white and/or clear mucous discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. Trust me, you don't ever want it to go away. You will also have your own scent - musky - and it will smell stronger to you than to others.
You can have this normal discharge for weeks, months or even years before getting your first period. It will also continue after you get your period. You can wear a pantyliner if it bothers you. Some girls do produce more discharge than others.
Different Types of Discharge:
White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.
Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.
Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.
Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.
Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown. This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle.

QUESTION:
How can i get rid of a yeast infection at home?
okay so, i dont have chunky discharge, but i have intense itching and irritaction, from the intense inching. and i dont want to go to the doctor becasue that would be awkward, so i need a way of treating it from products at a local store. does Vagisil work? i dont know what to do...and i REALLY cant stand this feeling anymore-
ANSWER:
I've never heard of a "home remedy" per se that works, but you don't have to go to a doctor. There are over the counter drugs that work almost as well. If you go to a Drug store, there is a section for it. If you're not sure, ask the pharmacist. They'll let you know which ones work the best. Like I said, nothing over the counter (including Vagisil) is quite as strong as what you can get from a doctor, but they definitely do work in most cases. If you try that and it doesn't work, you may have to see a doctor. They don't just go away on their own. For the record, it's not as awkward as you think. They see people about that kind of stuff all the time.

QUESTION:
How do I get rid of a yeast infection at home?
I'm pretty sure I have a yeast infection and have had one for a week or so. I've got the itching, the burning when I itch, the discharge, and this weird like layer of stuff... so how do I get rid of this at home? I can't go to a doctor because we don't have insurance and I can't just buy monostat or whatever becuase for one I'm 14 and I'd have to as my mom and that would not blow over well and I don't have money to buy it either. Please help, I'm in so much pain. Thanks!
I'd like to add that I have been taking amoxicillin for broncitus and have NOT! had sex. I don't wear a purity ring because it's pretty.-
ANSWER:
Since you think it would not blow over well to ask your mom to buy it, I'm guessing you don't know what the causes are and think she'll assume its because you're having unprotected sex or something. Here's a list from brown.edu of different causes:Antibiotic treatments
Oral contraceptives
Hot weather or non-ventilating clothing, which increase moisture and warmth, fostering fungal growth
Repeated intercourse over a short period of time
Stress
Suppressed immune system (including HIV)
High carbohydrate intake, especially refined sugars and alcohol
Pregnancy
Diabetes
Other causes can be irritants such as soaps, powders, new detergents and other productsSo yes, ask your mom for monistat. Or, if you've taken antibiotics recently, start eating yogurt. Antibiotics cause yeast infections. Replacing the beneficial digestive system bacteria makes them go away.

QUESTION:
How to cure a yeast infection at home?
I am broke and wondering if there is anything usually carried in the home that can get rid of a yeast infection. I'm desperate-
ANSWER:
I've heard of hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball, or natural plain yogurt on a tampon. However, use these with caution. They are home remedies and not generally recommended by medical professionals.
You should try going to Planned Parenthood and asking if they have some Monistat/Canestan they can sell you at a lowered price, or go to your dr and explain your situation, maybe they have free samples they can give you.
You must know someone with money...nothing will get rid of it as well as the stuff you buy from the pharmacy. Can't you borrow twenty bucks from your parents or sibling or friend? These things aren't hugely expensive.

I have a yeast infection...how can I get rid of it at home (without going to the doctor)?
Ok, yeah, I'm pretty sure I have a yeast infection but I am to shy and embaressed to tell my mom.So, is there anyway to get rid of it without going to the doctor or buying stuff from the store? I heard eating yogurt helps, is this true?
-
ANSWER:
Ehhh. Honestly you really need to get something from the drugstore. There are things like vagisil that work really well.
I've never heard the yogurt thing.
I don't know about buying it though, you could go to walmart with your mom and split up for like 10 minutes, go buy the stuff and stick it in your purse and then find her later.
That might work if you can't get yourself to the store.

-
ANSWER:
Antibiotics can cause yeast infections. Its because antibiotics kill bad bacteria but they also kill the good bacteria in your system. When the good bacteria dies, yeast grows uncontrollably, because good bacteria prevents too much yeast from growing. You can use an over the counter product, like monistat. They sell them at any drug store and places like wal-mart. You should also consider eating more good bacteria. Good bacteria is called pro-biotics, and can be found in yogurt and even in pill form now from the same stores that sell the yeast infection cream.
Eating the yogurt alone may heal the infection, but your body may need the extra help from the cream. From now on, when you get sick and take antibiotics, try to eat stuff like yogurt or anything that has live cultures on the label. (even cottage cheese has it now) That will help replenish the good bacteria and prevent yeast infections.
Good luck and feel better!
EDIT: Yogurt does work. it doesn't matter if its bacterial or fungal. Putting good bacteria in your system helps fight infections. Its simple logic.

QUESTION:
How do I get rid of the start of a yeast infection?
I don't have a full blown yeast infection. I am starting to get itchy and some white discharge is appearing. The last time I had a yeast infection, I douched and it somewhat helped. I have also heard of putting plain yogurt on your vagina to soothe the itching, but that never really appealed to me. Sad to say, I don't have the money to go out to the store and buy Vagisil or Monostat. Does anyone know of any ways to get rid of a yeast infection at home as soon as possible? My doctor's office is a 2 hour drive (only because that's where my health insurance is) and it's an extremly long wait to be seen. The last time I had a yeast infection, I just waited it out for two weeks and it finally went away. I have a rodeo competition this weekend, I can't have a yeast infection! Any serious answers or advice would be awesome! Thank you all so much!-
ANSWER:
Hey hon. Well, I don't know of alot of home rememdies that would get rid of a yeast infection, those things are usually pretty tricky to get rid of without treatment. I would recommend those monistat creams, they are really good for getting rid of yeast infections. They don't really cost too much, like ten fifteen dollars. I think you need to try to find the money and do that, cuz otherwise your just gonna have to suffer and see if it goes away on its own. My yeast infections never went away without treatment. Also, to prevent future yeast infections from coming back, trying eating a container of yogurt every day, thats really good for fighting infections and preventing them from coming back. Also, Im not sure, but I wouldn't recommend douching. I think douching can actually cause yeast infections more in women who do that. good luck to you. Hope you get rid of it.

QUESTION:
How to treat a yeast infection at home?
I've had a yeast infection for about a month now. The cream I got from the doctor didn't quite get rid of it. I've been doing research on it and from what I hear, many people find home remedies are the best way to actually cure the problem. However, there are a lot of different methods from different sites and I have no clue which to use.If you have had experience with this problem, please tell me what you think is the most effective treatment. If it makes any difference, I'm a guy. (Yes, guys can get them too)
Please avoid giving any answers that involve "go back to your doctor." Maybe you don't see it the same way I do but I don't believe they are the ultimate ruler of how to treat medical issues. I could come up with the idea of going back to the doctor by myself, please say something more constructive.-
ANSWER:
I don't know... but maybe eat some yogurt... I'm not sure if it can help a yeast infections... but it can prevent it... well, that's what my doctor told me to eat when I went on an antibiotic...Hope this helps

QUESTION:
Can I get rid of a chronic recurring yeast infection if I take medicines that lower my immune system. how?
I take medicines for rheumatoid arthritis that greatly lower my immune system. I can not get rid of a yeast infection. When I went to the dr, probably over a year ago now, he said I had a yeast infection, gave me meds, but they didn't work. I've since taken monistat a few times over the past year. Yesterday I bought an at home yeast infection testing kit by Vagisil and it indicates yeast infection. I am taking monistat yet again, and I have little hope. I am so fed up. I'd like to hear things that have personally helped you. I don't want information that is out there unless you've personally tried it and it worked! Help meeeee!!-
ANSWER:
I also suffer from a reoccurring yeast infection so I can completely sympathise. The below are things which I find to help as long term solutions as although medications get rid of it initially, within two weeks it comes back fighting.Live yoghurt- contains bacteria which kills the yeast. Dip a tampon in some and insert for a few hours and smear around the outside. I find this to work very well and is one of the oldest home remedies about.
Studies have also shown that when yeast infections are present in the vagina they are ALWAYS present in the gut- leading to increased risk of reinfection so eat plenty as well.Tea-tree essential oil- works well as is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, dilute with some water to create more volume and follow the method above. I usually use this for over night or if I do not have any yoghurt left.
The other thing to consider is your diet- yeast feeds directly off sugar so the more there is of it in your diet the more severe and likely attacks of thrush are, so cut down as much as possible.
Dairy is also known to aggravate thrush as are mushrooms (apart from shiitake for some reason!) Personally I love these foods so can not completely cut them out; however if I feel the beginnings of an attack or in the midst of one then I will cut them out until the problem is gone. It depends on how much you like these as to what your action is- I have found though that avoiding them during an attack makes it easier to get rid of so it stands to reason that in not eating them at all you are less likely to get an attack.
Good luck and I hope you have some success with the methods I have outlined. They work well for me and I have gone from almost constant thrush to having the occasional attack, which if I pick up on quickly can be averted or got rid of quickly.

QUESTION:
How to get rid of a yeast infection?
I don't want to go to the gynecologist or doctor...
I want something simple to do it at home fast...
I heard cranberry juice is good for that...
Any suggestions?????-
ANSWER:
if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips - they worked for me:1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.
2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.
3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.
4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent.
5) Try gentian violet. It's a traditional remedy for yeast and other infections, and can be found in pharmacies. Swab the area with it once or twice a day. Make sure to use a thick pad - it stains everything.
6) Use an herbal douche. Combine equal amounts of sage, raspberry and comfrey with 1/4 part goldenseal. This can be combined with cider vinegar.
7) also you should use some herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again!
And of course it is better if you use full course (5 months - if I remember correctly). For me it worked very fast + I dont get yeast infections anymore (almost 2 years) ...

-
ANSWER:
A yeast infection has no strong odor. The discharge is described as "cottage cheese" - white and lumpy. It is usually insanely itchy. Women always have yeast in their vaginas, but certain changes like taking an antibiotic or giving birth can change the conditions in the vagina, and let the yeast take over. You should go to the doctor if you have never had a yeast infection before, and if you are not sure that it is a yeast infection. The slight smell makes me wonder if it is a haemophilus infection. That has to be treated with a special antibiotic.
If you don't want to go to the doctor, you can buy a yeast treatment for the vagina. Use it only at bedtime, as it can drip out in a strange way. Cranberry juice probably won't help. Your bladder is a neighbor of your vagina, but it's on a different street.
If you were a natural health fan, you could douche with plain, unsweetened yogurt. It probably won't cure it, but it can prevent a new infection.
If you still have the problem after treating it for a week, then you have to break down and go to the doctor.

How to get rid of a yeast infection, FAST!!?
I think i may have a yeast infection, im 12 and i asked my mom and she sayed maybe so, because i was just sick and the doctor prescribed me antibiotics, it tingles and itches REALLY BAD down there, and it kinda burns and stings when i urinate, my mom is giving me cranberry pills but i want to get rid of it in at least 2 days because its friday and i cant take another day with it at school, it itches and i cant scratch it at school, its distracting me so much, any home remedies?
I also have this white stuff coming out, dont want to get into detail...
the white stuff is sort of cottage cheese form stuff... i know its gross, thats why im embarrassed about it-
ANSWER:
monistat.. you clearly need to see a doctor though before starting any medicine simply because of your age.Cranberry pills will not cure the infection because they are for urinary tract infections not yeast infections.
Some things to help in the mean time are: leave the area uncovered and dry as best you can. I know it sounds weird. Try to wear a skirt (no stockings). or just an oversized t shirt to bed. Yeast likes warm and wet places so this will help a bit.
If you are really desperate.. this will sound crazy but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.. if you have a blow dryer with a cool setting button... blow your area. you will feel instant itch relief. Its temporary but hey anything to stop that itch right?

How to get rid of yeast infection?
I've been masturbating to myself a lot these past few days, and this one day, my vagina starts stinging and itching like crazy! Enen though it might take a while to treat, i want to treat it with household goods. I DONT wanto tell my parents nor the doctor so PLEASE help! IMMEDIATLY! thank you all for your advise(s)
))-
ANSWER:
For confirmed vaginal yeast infections, over-the-counter medications are available that are usually effective in treating them. The cure rates associated with the nonprescription drugs are about 75-90%. However, women who do not have a vaginal yeast infection account for two thirds of all yeast-infection remedies purchased in stores. By using these medications, these women may increase their likelihood of developing a yeast infection that is resistant to future treatment.Medications to treat vaginal yeast infections come in a variety of forms, including oral medications, vaginal suppositories, and creams. Suppositories are inserted into the vagina. Cream medications are massaged into the vagina and surrounding tissues. Most candidal infections that are treated at home with over-the-counter or prescription medications clear within a week

ANSWER:
Apple cider vinegar works really well. It may not smell that great when you first put it on but the smell goes away very quickly. The best is organic from the health food store. Most grocery store brands aren't really even vinegar any more. And its about the only thing safe enough to use around the eyes. Be sure you dry the folds out really well after cleaning them that will help also. This might hold you over till you can get to the vet.
EDIT: Please don't use athletes foot cream around the eyes. You could damage her eye permanently.
EDIT: If its human antifungal cream for a vaginal yeast infection no you can't use it. Even though it may be yeast in her face folds its not the same kind of yeast. You have to be very careful what you use around the eyes.

QUESTION:
How can I cure a yeast infection?
I have a problem......
I took some antibiotics about a week ago to treat tonsilitis, and now I think that I have a yeast infection. The only problem is my vag is super small/tight and nothing can go up there. plungers and stuff are out of the question as might be pills. Is there anything I can do at home that will get rid of this? i need help, im very uncomfortable here!!
people suggest yogurt- how much do i need to eat? and when will it start to get better?-
ANSWER:
i have infact had this infection and here are some ways to help it go awayStep 1 Eat yogurt. It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. It also works when applied topically. Insert some into the vagina using a finger or plastic tampon applicator. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.
Step 2 Take lactobacillus/acidophilus supplements. Use according to the directions on the bottle.
Step 3 Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.
Step 4 Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.
Step 5 Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent. Peel a fresh clove, wrap it in gauze and insert it into the vagina.
Step 6 Try gentian violet. It's a traditional remedy for yeast and other infections, and can be found in pharmacies. Swab the area with it once or twice a day. Make sure to use a thick pad - it stains everything.
Step 7 Use an herbal douche. Combine equal amounts of sage, raspberry and comfrey with 1/4 part goldenseal. This can be combined with cider vinegar.
Step 8 Use an over-the-counter yeast infection remedy. Apply as directed.

QUESTION:
How can i get rid of an ongoing yeast infection problem!?
So October of 2008 I had sex for the first time and along with sex came a yeast infection problem that has not gone away. A week after we had sex i was experiencing all the yeast infection symptoms, so irritating and uncomfortable. Saw the doctor and I got a pap test and STD tests done just in case and all was good. The doctor just gave me a pill, and as expected the symptoms went away. Well between the time of october and today january i have probably had about to infections twice a month. Usually its not severe, and it will go away the next day without antibiotics, but sometimes antibiotics are necessary. For example today, I was at the beach and it just hit me out of nowhere! I had to rush home asap, I felt horrible, but 2 hours later its all gone. I don't know what is wrong and no doctors have payed any attention to it.-
ANSWER:
From what I know, yeast infections don't just show up for hours then go away. They useually stay there until they are treated completely. Maybe you have something out. Definitely go tell your doctor what is happening. If it is a yeast infection, I recommend taking Monistat. I took the 1 day(I had two yest infections over a period of 6 months after I became sexually active) and it always worked for me. I liked the 1day treatment because it was just quicker and easier for me to do, in 7 days, completely cleared up. And you might want to change your diet to protect you in the long run, maybe try and eat yogurt for breakfast and cut down on the sweets.

QUESTION:
How can i cure my yeast infection with a tampon and yogurt?
ive been reading articles on how to cure my yeast infection at home and a lot
of them said that dipping a tampon that contained live cultures and then inserting it in your vagina works really well so i want to try it because it sounds easy and sounds like its not much work but ive never used a tampon before (im 15 years old) so i dont know what to do. i really dont want to have to tell my mom because we are not close at all i really want to ge rid of it im soo tired of having it. i get tons of discharge and its discusting ive been having yeast infection for more than 2 years straight i know this sounds pretty gross but i dont know what to do anymore i just want to get rid of it FAST ... also do you think i should try the tampon thing??thanxxz<3
-
ANSWER:
When it comes to stuff like that don't do home remedies. They don't work. Also the cultures don't cure the infection. It only regulates the PH after the fact and you eat it for it to work. Since you can't get rid of it on your own go to a doctor. Also I doubt you would have had it for 2 years straight. You would have some serious damage to your reproductive organs right now and you would have PID.

QUESTION:
Do I have a Yeast Infection, and will Monistat 7 get rid of it?
Two days ago I tried to have sex with my partner but it was very painful. It felt like he was stabbing me. It burned! (We don't have STD's. We've been tested and only have sex with each other. We've been in a 6 yr relationship.)Yesterday I woke up to my vaginal area (the opening of my vagina) feeling itchy. Not extremely but it was enough to make me notice.I asked someone at work about it. She used to be a nurse for a Gyno. She said it was a yeast infection and that I will have discharge. I didn't have any at the time. Later that day I went to the drugstore and bought a pack of Monistat 7. I figured the Monistat 1 and Monistat 3 would be too strong for me. So, I decided to take it slow and pick the 7 treatment to see what would come out of it.
Last night I took out my mirror and laid in my bed. I did notice a very tiny amount of discharge. It was white and thick and it was seeping out of the opening of my vagina. Sort of like a thick teardrop.
So that is:
-Pain during intercourse
-Odorless White thick discharge (with no foul odor.)
-Itchiness on the vaginal opening
-NO pain or burning during urinationBefore putting on the external itch relief cream on the outside. (Though I don't think I need it because the itchiness feels like it on the entrance of my vagina not the outside. But I used it anyway.) Later that night I used the insert tube with the internal cream.
I didn't feel any burning or irritation after using the external cream. I didn't use a lot because I wasn't sure how I would react to it. Just a small amount on my fingertip. A few hours later I used the internal cream with the insert tube. It didn't hurt. The cream didn't bother me either. I slept fine.
This morning I woke up and put on some of the external cream on the outside. I went to work and got home. I felt a little sore so I checked it when I was in my bathroom. It feels a little tender. And it looks really red down there.
It's nothing painful. Just a little tender. But I don't feel burning or swelling. It feels fine. The itch is still there and I am willing to continue with the treatment. I'm guessing it's just a side affect to the creams. It does say on the package that some women will get side affects. Some worse than others. Mine is very bearable.
I don't have money to go to a Gyno. Last time I went I had insurance and I don't anymore until next year. They charge over 90 bucks for just the visit and then they might prescribe me medicine that is even more expensive.
So what's your opinion? Please be as detailed as I was.
Oops I forgot to say that I did inform my partner about this and he says he feels fine. Nothing feels itchy or sore down 'there'. It's been 2 days since we 'tried' to have unprotected sex and if he feels fine then it's probably a yeast infection since it's rare to pass it during sex.
Lol forgot to add one more detail. I was taking some antibiotics for a ingrown toenail infection about 2 weeks ago. It made my tongue swell up for a while.
Like i said before it's really not bad at all. I feel no pain. Just itch and pain during sex and discharge with no odor.-
ANSWER:
You have a yeast infection or a bacterial infection.Yeast live in competition with bacteria. If you take medicine for a yeast infection when you have a bacterial infection, the bacterial infection will get worse. Or, if you take antibiotics, that can often trigger a yeast infection.
If this does not start to show signs of improvement in two days, then you have a bacterial infection and need to see a doctor. I know it is expensive. Planned Parenthood might have cheaper visits for you.
Yeast infections and bacterial infections can be spread sexually, so you should abstain until the treatment is complete or you risk your partner reinfecting you even if he feels no symptoms.
If you use the Monistat, use it as directed. If it isn't working, that is a sign that you don't have a yeast infection, but if you're only kind of using it, then nothing is for sure.

QUESTION:
Home Remedies for Yeast Infections? (Female only thanks)?
I've been doing some looking around on Internet sites regarding yeast infections and found that plain yogurt helps balance the bacteria and stuff "down there". I read that the most effective way to rid of the infection is to apply it directly to the vulva and inside of your vagina, but I am hesitant on how to do so. Any ladies have advice on how one should go about putting yogurt up their vagina properly? Lol ... I read that you can put it inside a tampon applicator and freeze the yogurt inside and then insert it as you would a tampon and leave it in there for an hour or so, but how to get that thing out makes me wonder. Please help me out! I don't want to get over the counter treatment, my mom says it helps at first, but they come back a lot easier.-
ANSWER:
It is absolutely true that you can use yogurt directly in or on your vagina. I've heard the frozen yogurt tampon idea, but I don't think I'd try it. That would be too COLD!I just dip my finger in some yogurt and insert it that way. It really works. The cold offers instant relief, and the active cultures take care of the infection.
You can also eat yogurt or take acidophilus supplements to help balance bacteria in your entire body.

QUESTION:
Yeast infections...How to get rid of them?
I know it seems a little gross, but I need some help. Ever since my second baby I have been extremely uncomfortable down there. I had 3 yeast infections with my second pregnancy & now I think they are kinda just gonna stick with me. He is only a month old and when I first came home from the hospital I had to use Monistat 7. It did get rid of it, but it is back.I am not a "dirty" person at all. I have great hygiene and bathe daily, but how can I get rid of these yeast infections and keep them away? Is there a prescription medication out there I could consult my doctor about or is there anything natural that I could use (since it is a natural infection).
Thanks for your advice...
-
ANSWER:
A yeast infection has no bearing on whether you are 'clean' or have good hygiene. They are brought on by changes in your body, stress, foods you eat, as well as medications you might be taking. A yeast infection is simply when your ph in your vagina becomes unbalanced. There are over the counter creams that you put in while you sleep to clear up or rather return the natural balance to your vagina. The 7 day treatment is recommended because it is thorough. Make sure after you exercise you change your underwear to remove unwanted sweat or bacteria. Douching is not recommended either because it also removes 'good' bacteria needed to maintain a balance. Yogurt will help to provide more good bacteria as well.

QUESTION:
I'm 13 and I think I have a yeast infection? Please HELP!?
I'm 13 and I think I have a yeast infection. I'm really scared. I've never had sex her anything, but, this is kind of embarrassing, I have been masturbating lately, but only rubbing threw my clothes Is that a way of getting a yeast infection? My panties are all cotton, and so are my pajama pants.
It's kind of itching, but I don't exactly know what it means by "burning" And it's not red at all, it's a kind of pink-ish. But yeah, it totally depends on what they mean by 'burning' But it is itching. I read that there is discharge that looks like cottage cheese? I don't think I have that, but I do get kind of clear-ish white discharge, but that has been happening for a long time now. I don't know what to do! If it is a yeast infection I CANNOT tell my mom! Shell freak out and idk, and I can't go to the doctor by myself because we don't have a family doctor (long story short, my mom had problems with her appendix while she was pregnant with my brother, and the hospital didn't listen to her about it, so they didn't bother checking then she actually died, but came back some how, so now she is like terrified doctors) We (mostly my brother) go to the walk in clinic when we need to.
But I don't know what to do! If it is one, what are some ways I can get rid of it at home? I read yogurt helps, and my mom and grandparents were actually talking about yeast infections and cold sores and all that and they said that listerine original mouth wash works to get rid of everything it just hurts like h*ell? Is that true?? Ughhhh, I just don't know what to do! Please please help!-
ANSWER:
If you have been rubbing yourself with dry cotton, then it is possible that you are itching because you have made yourself too dry down there. It is also quite possible that you have a yeast infection. Sometimes, the only symptom is itching.I don't know why your mother would freak out over something as simple and common as a yeast infection, but you know her better than I do. So, to treat a yeast infection without going to a doctor you just need to go to a drug store or pharmacy and buy a box of Monistat. It will be sitting on a shelf somewhere near feminine products. There will be a few different options, seven day treatment vs three day treatment, and name-brand monistat vs cheaper generic stuff. It doesn't matter which one you get, and you should probably just go with whatever is cheapest. Read the instructions and follow them carefully, and you will be fine. If it turns out that you don't have a yeast infection, the monistat cream won't hurt you.

I could tell my mom I'm just afraid because I have never talked to her about anything like this before. I've never gotten my period so it's very uncomfortable talking to her about those sorts of things. And, I have two younger brothers, so my family is very boy - centered. But are you sure this actually is a yeast infection? I know it's very common, but I just can't believe I have one! Bur I only have one of the symptoms, itching. No cottage cheese looking discharge, no burning. Is it because I was rubbing with dry cotton and that irrated it or something? I don't know, I guess I could go buy that stuff after school sometime, but, ugh I just am really scared!-
ANSWER:
You should never be afraid to talk to your mother about health problems. Especially at your age, your not sexually active. There is nothing to worry about. When I was 10, I contracted a bladder infection and because I was so embarrassed to tell my mother about it, I wound up in the hospital with a severe kidney infection. However, your symptoms do not sound like a yeast infection. Sometimes vagina's just itch. It could be the detergent you wash clothes with etc. I have been told it is good to sleep without underwear on sometimes. You'd know if it was burning. Best of luck but you should most certainly discuss this with your mother.

QUESTION:
idk what a yeast infection is...but do I have it?
So i just had a misscariage like a week and a half ago and this monday I noticed something different. iv been having alot of discharge i guess well im not really sure cause iv never really had discharge ever and I know its supose to be clearish. well anyways this is what i was guessing it was...well this monday i noticed something different with my vagina and i stuck my finger in barely and when i pulled it out there would be this white clumpy stuff all over my finger it i guess has a faint smell but its not bad kinda smells like rust like when im on my period. anyways its thursday now and I still have it. idk what it is or why its there but its kinda making me uncomfortable cause i know its there and I dont like it. iv never been top a gyno and im not planning on going to one if i really dont need to. but what is this does anyoneknow? and if it is a yeast infection then how can i have gotten it? and what are typical symptoms of one and is there anyway i can get rid of it just by being at home. cause i know that when u have a bladder infection you can drink tons and tons of cranberry juice and it gets rid of it. so what can i do if this is a yeast infection???
ok let me say how the misscarriage happened. me and my brother were walking and he was high and he swung his backpack at my stomach cause he is dumb..and i fell to the ground in so much pain and couldnt get up for couple minutes cause it knocked the air out of me and gave me these like sharp pains like my stomach was contracting up and down like idk how to explain and when i got home i noticed i was bleeding alot just randomly and i wasnt supose to get my period for anlther week and i told my mom and she said it was probs a miscarriage but she never took me to the doctor. and im pretty sure it was one to cause i did have unprotected sex.-
ANSWER:
It sounds like you may have something called thrush. It is a yeast infection and you can get medicine to cure it (canesten duo, which is a pessary and a cream) but thrush symptoms are usually White cottage cheese like discharge, no smell, and it can cause itching on the outside of the vaginal opening. To use canesten, you have to have been diagnosed by a doctor of having thrush anyway.
If you've had a miscarridge you most definitely should have been seen by a doctor. I think you should bite the bullet and do to a GUM clinic for a sexual health screening. You should do that anyways even if you don't have symptoms of anything once a year (it is advised that you go for a smear test at least). There are some infections that have few or no symptoms so you wouldn't know if anything was wrong. It's not all that bad. I'm a actually going today. Make the right decision for your body and health. You cant get rid of these things by just drinking water. Good luck.

QUESTION:
I think I have a Yeast Infection?
I think I have a Yest Infection (in my vagina) but I can't talk to my parents about it, because I'm too embarrassed and i can't go see my doctor or buy anything for it because i'm only 13 LOL..
so how do I get rid of one at home? like a home remedy that i could use to get rid of it? i've heard of the yogurt one.. but i don't quite understand how to do it? please help! i can't take this itching for much longer.. :/-
ANSWER:
Well, the only thing I can think of to do at home is the yogurt. If you have a dropper or something you can squirt it up inside you with that can work. Or you can just use your fingers to push it inside. Or you can put it on a tampon and insert the tampon. An empty tampon applicator may work to push the yogurt inside. Be sure if you do this you use plain yogurt. No flavors or added sugars. You can also just apply some of it to your vulva (the outside part of your nether regions). Good luck, hope you feel better!

QUESTION:
Do I still have a yeast infection?
Okay, so I've had a yeast infection for three years. I tried creams but those just made it worse... I went to planned parenthood and they tested me for a yeast infection and it came out positive. They gave me a 72 hour pill that is supposed to cure the infection within a week or sooner. I ended up having to get the pill three times. On the third time it looked like it was clearing up a lot but less then a week after I had taken the pill. My discharge came back, I have so much I have to wear liners to keep my underwear from getting soaked. I read somewhere that hydrogen peroxide mixed with water then inserted into the vagina can cure it. I tried it a few times and my discharge has become very stringy.... the smell hasn't changed at all but I honestly just want to get rid of this so I can go on to having a normal 16 year old life. Is there any home remedies that anyone can think of? I'm tired of being scared of what a guy might think if he saw how wet I am all the time.... Please help me.-

QUESTION:
Do I have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis.?
Okay so I let this boy finger and and "eat" me then the next day I had a cottage cheese discharge coming out and it itched and burned ALOT I kept scratching for a few days and I swolled up so I took an otmeal bath btw I have eczema but then like at least 2 days later my mom got me vagasil wipes I thought I got rid of whatever I had because I never itched or burned anymore un til I ran out now it itches and burns and I'm scratching so much it's turning red also the discharge thats coming out is only small and silky but I don't know if it really smells or not. Can anyone tell me what I have and how to get rid of it with home remedies.-
ANSWER:
if you have a yeast infection it will be white like cottage cheese. Yeast infections normally do not carry a bad odor. You can purchase monistat or another vaginal yeast infection cure over the counter from Walgreen's, walmart etc. They range from 14-20 dollars depending where you live. A bacterial infection has a bad odor some describe as fishy. I would try the over the counter monistat first and if your still having problems go to the doc. You may have gotten the infection from bacteria on the males hand or bacteria from the mouth. I will say yeast and bacteria infections have similar symptoms so the best way is to get it checked out. They also have a new home kit where you can test if you have a yeast or bacteria infection which can be purchased at your local drug store.

QUESTION:
How to get rid of a plantar wart?
Okay so I think I am prone to illness. I have a plantar wart, a yeast infection, athletes foot, and pin worms. These all caused my mom to go buy something to fix it. She bought medication for everything except for the plantar wart but I don't want her to go buy something to make it go away. Are there any at home remedies to make it go away?-
ANSWER:
Salicylic acid. Using salicylic acid, a plantar wart treatment that you can purchase over-the-counter from your local drug store, you can remove a plantar wart in generally about four weeks. The process calls for daily application of acid to the wart, as well as rubbing of the dead skin from the wart.
Cryotherapy. It sounds like what they did to Ted Williams, and does involve freezing. In this case, doctors use liquid nitrogen to "freeze" your wart. They apply the liquid nitrogen directly onto the plantar wart using a spray-tip or cotton-tip applicator. If you've never experienced cryotherapy before, you might be struck by the sci-fi image of unearthly vapors rising from the nitrogen tank. For children, this method can be too painful and scary, and at any rate, it guarantees neither more nor less success than duct tape or acid treatments. If successful, however, you'll get rid of that plantar wart faster.
Other natural remedies. You can learn a number of natural remedies for plantar warts, moles and skin tags in the excellent e-book Moles, Warts and Skin Tag Removal - this program is highly recommended, safe and fast!

I have it as we speak, it cam back 8 months about but I haven't done anything about it. The smells so nasty, it's to the point where I can smell it through my clothes. I'm a very clean person. I shower daily, wear ONLY but cotton underwear, and change underwear's EVERY night.... it still wont go away.. is their any natural at home remedies I can do to get rid of it? It's so bad it's to the point where I have a yeast infection now! It came 3 days ago.... So how can i get rid of this both? I heard Douching with warm water diluted with white vinegar is VERY effective. Also, putting plain yogurt right inside my vagina was goo too.. and something about acidophiles pills I can buy at a coca health food store might get rid of it too? Any advice please? Thank you.-
ANSWER:
Basically the reason you have a yeast infection is because there's an imbalance in your body. A healthy person has a balance between the yeast in their body and the good bacteria in their body.Too much yeast, you have a yeast infection. Too much bacteria, you have a bacterial infection.
So, when you have a yeast infection you essentially have too much yeast in your body relative to the good bacteria. The natural way to treat it and bring back that balance is to starve the yeast and introduce more good bacteria into your body.
Oh and BTW - That's why you often get relief from using the over the counter meds temporarily, and then the yeast infection comes back. The creams aren't changing the source of the problem. They are just killing the yeast they come in contact with, and not balancing the yeast/bacteria in your body and actually sometimes end up making things a lot worse.
Oh BTW2 - That's also why many times you'll get a yeast infection after using antibiotics. Antibiotics kill all the bacteria in your body, the good and the bad. When that happens the balance between the yeast and good bacteria is off, and once again and you get a yeast infection.
Things you can add to your diet (to help promote good bacteria) are live yogurt cultures (or take Acidophilus), plenty of water, fresh vegetables, lots of protein rich foods, whey protein, raw garlic, nuts, seeds, oils, millet, rice and oat brans
Things you should remove from your diet (to starve the yeast) are all sodas, sugars, fruit, fermented foods, foods containing white flour, alcohol (especially beer), antacids and any product that has yeast or mold
Changing your diet will definitely get you on the road to balancing the yeast and good bacteria, but what I would also recommend is to use a homeopathic solution to help naturally speed up the process.
I always feel if there's a natural way to do something, then it's best to avoid the chemicals. I would look for an natural product, that can be taken orally to promote re-growth of the good bacteria in your body.
There are a few out there, I think they are probably all pretty good. One that I have used and was very effective for me was is yeastrol.
Best of Luck!Hope this helps and best of luck!

QUESTION:
How do I get rid of itching down there?
Ok so about 5 years ago when my boyfriend and I got done having sex and we didn't use a condom that time which was the first time we hadn't used one in a while, then I started itching down there. We went on vacation to Florida and I took a dip in the ocean before driving back home and that made me itch worse. Ever since I have frequently had itching down there. I have been tested for STD's and all clear except mild case of HPV I've had for 7 years. The nurse practioners and doctors (I've been to several) said it was bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection but the antibiotics and creams or gels never took care of it. Then I noticed sex toys just added to the problem. I used them cleaned with soap and water and tried bleach, alcohol, vinegar and none of that worked so I put condoms over them. ( never had a allergic reaction to condoms before) Ever since a particular incident in Oct. 2009 when there was a condom on the toy, I have had frequent itching again but a lil worse at times than ever. I stopped using the toys and rarely have had sex and used condoms and a couple broke. I do not have any other symptoms or signs. The docs said to not douche anymore. So I haven't done that in a while. I had tried pouring straight vinegar on the clit where it feels like something is stuck inside itching and it burned the first few times and but never got rid of the itch completely. I've tried wearing only white cotton underware, I tried sitting in the bath tub full of baking soda and water (doc said to). I have cramping in my ovary areas and stomach ache and wierd pains randomly throughout my body, that I feel are connected to it. I have had a baby too in 2008 but no problems passed on to the baby and the doc said it was safe for vaginal delivery. It did seem like when I ran out of my antibiotics for my acne the itching increased. I have been back on them for a few days now but itching has not decreased. If I am allergic to latex what do i do about that? Or could it be excema or candidasis? If so then why don't the doctors think so and or at least test me for all that? I am soo frustrated!
I eat very healthy too. No processed meat! I don't drink alot of soda but I do moderately drink coffee. I also drink Kombucha which is supposed to be VERY good for you!-

QUESTION:
Different ways to treat PCOS, and getting pregnant and possibility's of it resulting from Candida Yeast?
OK, I have had PCOS for at least 3 - 5 years. I am trying everything I can to get better/pregnant. I have changed my lifestyle around the ways I eat, sleep, exercise, and have sex. I have consulted with almost 10 doctors, OB-GYN's, and everything else imaginable. I have tried medications (Clomid, Metformin, etc.), Vitamins, and nothing seems to work.I have done hours and hours of research, and I have pretty much gone to the limits to try and get rid of my PCOS. If there are any great tips out there that have personally worked for you, I am willing to try to get rid of this. My periods are semi-irregular. I get them about every 35-45 days, and fortunately have been since November of last year, which is new for me. I did miss march, but it was weird how it worked out.
After hours of research, I also found this:
"Candida is a fungus that is found in the body in benign amounts, but when given the correct circumstances, grows uncontrolled throughout the body. It most commonly resides in the small intestine, but it often runs from the sinuses down to the groin.Candida is known for causing, or being a part of, reproductive organ problems, such as yeast infections, endometriosis, PCOS, impotence, and fertility problems. Other symptoms may be difficult to pinpoint. The most obvious is yeast infections, especially chronic yeast infections. It can also cause depression, gastrointestinal problems, allergies, and a variety of other symptoms. Candida makes a person crave sweets, grains, and cheese and makes you eat when you're not hungry and/or more than you need. It can lead someone to become overweight.
A candida yeast overgrowth is caused by eating too many foods that feed the fungus, such as the foods mentioned above. However, most people get it from taking oral antibiotics, which end up killing all the bacteria in the body, including the good bacteria which keeps the normal levels of candida benign, allowing the fungus to grow to massive amounts."

Now if this is true, this is very possible for me! I am CONSTANTLY craving sweets/chocolates, and when I first found about that I had PCOS, I had chronic yeast infections, and in about 2 years I had about 10-15 of them. And since then, I get about 1 or 2 a year.
Is this a possibility for me? How do I get checked? What are some treatment methods (Vitamins, Home remedy's, prescriptions, etc.)? And will my PCOS go away by treating the Candida, and if so, will I need a scan again/how will I know? Can anyone else testify to this Candida Yeast issue, and what worked for you?
Thanks for your time.
